Rafael Nadal Clinched Fifth Straight Barcelona Open Title

Rafael Nadal has continued his success at Barcelona Open as the Spaniard clinched his 5th straight title by defeating fellow Spanish David Ferrer 6-2, 7-5 in a two-set final. The world no. 1 dominated his opponent throughout the match. He took the first set 6-2 pretty easily, but faced stiff competition from Ferrer in the second set which was decided at 7-5 in favor of Rafael Nadal. Interestingly, Nadal defeated Ferrer in last year’s Barcelona Open final too.

Rafael Nadal has strengthened his presence at the top of the ranking, by winning the match. The Spaniard clinched fifth straight Monte Carlo Masters title last week, and now that, he has won Barcelona Open for the fifth time in a row, it seems that Rafael Nadal will be at the top of his confidence level in French Open 2009.
