The third seeded Russian did not have many problems to clinch the first set, but she lost her rhythm in the second as she lost it 4-6, making 8 double faults and capitalizing only 2 out of 13 break point chances in the second set. In the deciding set, Safina made 36 unforced errors, giving some chances to Dokic, but in the end, Safina could successfully hold on and make it to the last four.
