Roger Federer may not be in his top form at this moment, but the world no. 2 will lead his country Switzerland in a David Cup 2009 playoff against Italy. The match is scheduled to take place in September. The former world no. 1 missed Switzerland’s first round loss to USA because of his injury.
It is expected that Roger Federer’s presence would help Switzerland to show improved performance against Italy in Davis Cup. Federer might have won a lot of titles in his illustrious career, but this would be another success for him if he can help Switzerland to win Davis Cup 2009 title.
India got an automatic promotion to playoff round as Australia refused to visit Chennai for its pre-scheduled match against India. India will face South Africa, while Netherlands will visit France and Sweden will take on Romania. Serbia will face Uzbekistan, and Brazil will play against Ecuador.
